# Vigilan Market

### What is Vigilan Market?

Vigilan Market is a P2P hedging layer for investors. It connects investors seeking coverage with participants providing risk liquidity through hedge contracts tied to defined financial risk events.

Each market defines a risk condition with Yes and No outcomes. Participants take positions to cover exposure or provide risk liquidity. After resolution, eligible shares receive the payout defined by the market's rules.

For an investor, a position can serve as a hedge when its payout corresponds to an adverse scenario affecting another exposure. Other participants provide the liquidity required to make that protection available.

The marketplace's focus is the connection between a tradable event and a real financial exposure. Its settlement infrastructure is on-chain, while the risk described by a contract can relate to an asset or event outside that blockchain.

### What makes a useful hedging market?

A useful hedge connects a clear exposure to an observable event. Before trading, you should be able to identify:

* The asset, platform, or event being measured.
* The adverse outcome you want to offset.
* The observation period and trigger.
* The source used to determine the result.
* The cost and potential payout of your position.

If those elements do not match your exposure, a contract may offer little protection even if its category sounds relevant.

### Trading infrastructure

Vigilan Market uses USDT collateral on BNB Smart Chain and ERC-1155 outcome tokens. Its hybrid central limit order book combines off-chain order matching with on-chain settlement.

<table data-header-hidden><thead><tr><th width="278.8671875"></th><th></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Item</td><td>Description</td></tr><tr><td>Settlement network</td><td>BNB Smart Chain</td></tr><tr><td>Trading collateral</td><td>USDT</td></tr><tr><td>Outcome tokens</td><td>Yes and No shares represented by ERC-1155 tokens</td></tr><tr><td>Order book</td><td>Hybrid CLOB</td></tr><tr><td>Funding and withdrawals</td><td>Use the supported asset and network shown in the app</td></tr></tbody></table>

USDT is the settlement asset. A payout of 1 USDT is not a guarantee of redemption for one US dollar. Before transferring funds, check the deposit screen rather than assuming that every token or network is supported.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.vigilan.market/vigilan-market/vigilan-market.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
